This week’s post is about a special guest! Her name is Gwen Selix and she has found a wonderful way to work through her depression and anxiety using her talents as an artist, and is helping others work through there’s as well.
I met Gwen in 6th grade art class, when she sat next to me and we shared a mutual interest in the Music Man. We have been best friends ever since. Gwen endures years of abuse in her childhood, leading to severe PTSD, Anxiety, and Depression later on in life. I stood by her through these years and one thing I have always loved and admired about Gwen is that despite everything she’s endured she has never stopped looking for the joy in the world. I have never met anyone sweeter, more full of Joy and passion. She is able to brighten up to any room she walks into.
Recently she’s decided to say “No more” to the people that have hurt her, and decided that she is going to start focus on herself! Part of this journey, along with other traditional methods of therapy, she has started to use artwork as a way to heal. She is now sharing her work with others, hoping that her story and journey will help others suffering though the same thing.
Please enjoy these few pieces of her work, a character she calls Meep! Meep takes on many forms and has helped her really work through the toughest parts of her PTSD!
